Spring in Ithaca Means… Book Sale! Festival! Rain!

After that long, deep freeze of a winter, spring has reliably sprung. I’ve spent a lot of time in the beeyard, first cleaning things up, then splitting hives and installispring flowersng some new packages of bees. And, of course, admiring the flowers that are coming up. Oh, flowers. How I’ve missed you!

We attended the big book sale here in Ithaca. A quarter of a million books donated by local residents, with the proceeds going to the local library. It’s a bibliophile’s dream!

Avital, you're gonna need a bigger box.

This weekend is the yearly Ithaca Festival, a full three days of fun and fairs. I had a booth last year at the Festival, but decided this year I would enjoy it as a spectator. One of my favorite parts is the parade, which these year included a great kids’ band from the Clune Montessori School of Ithaca, playing “Happy Together.”

Are these kids fabulous, or what?

And, of course, I’ve been working, making soaps and sundries in my workshop. I’ve also been experimenting with lotions. Up until now, I’ve made solid lotion bars, beeswax based balms (lip balms, and All Purpose Balm), and whipped body butters (the very popular Ithaca Body Butter).

Much as I (and my fans) loves these, there is a time and a place for a lighter moisturizer. And that time would be summer. And that place would be… anywhere, but perhaps especially the delicate skin on your face.

Stay tuned for a series of new products: scrubs, cremes, and lotions for your face and body. So far, the testers love them!
