Avital’s Team Wins Spelling Bee!

V-I-C-T-O-R-Y for adult spelling bee winners.

For the second year in a row, Avital’s has sponsored IHS (Ithaca High School) Bee-T-A, one of the teams participating in the Ithaca Public Education Initiative’s Adult Spelling Bee. How could I not sponsor a team in a spelling BEE, right? Spelling-Bee-Poster2015

My friend Esther Racoosin is on the team, so I knew they had a good shot at beating out the other 27 teams–she and her teammates know a variety of languages and are educated in a number of disciplines.

According to The Ithaca Journal, the spelling bee raised over $26,000 through sponsorships and a silent auction (which I also donated to… because it’s fun!). The money will go to fund teacher grants and other education-related initiatives.

  1. That’s great. I hope you taught them how to spell some difficult cosmetic ingredients like Butyrospermum Parkii and Chamomilla Recutita! And congrats to the team.

The team did a great job. I hope they’re up for a rematch next year!

That sounds like a ton of fun! I think spelling goes on the list of things I used to do well but it appears to be a declining skill.

I have to admit, it was never my strong suit. Spell check has definitely been a boon to me!
